This Just In …

Condoms will increase the risk of AIDS in Africa.

So says the Pope, who is infallible. Er … wait. He’s only infallible when what he says exhibits infallibility. So maybe this isn’t one of those times. I guess you have to be the judge.

“”You can’t resolve [AIDS] with the distribution of condoms,” the pope said. “On the contrary, it increases the problem.”

He then goes on to explain in very vague terms how AIDS crisis is a result of bad ethics “in economic structures.” It doesn’t matter if you don’t understand his point: the answer is the church!

(For those of you who don’t know, condoms actually prevent AIDS.)

  1. I disagree with the pope, but also think that condoms only help, they are not a solution. Education and social reform would go a lot further. The Pope needs a better PR man.

  2. The problem is that condoms not only prevent the spread of HIV, but they are also effective in preventing the spread of Catholics.
